 Member Email Messaging

Most clubs use email to communicate important news and events to their members but our website-based email messaging system goes much farther to provide the club with endless capabilities to create distribution lists and subscription lists and to choose from multiple email addresses for each member.

GENEREAL DESCRIPTION

The Member Email Messaging module is a complete email messaging system that enables sending messages in a few keystrokes to the entire membership or just a small committee. Email messages can be sent to any or all of up to four email addresses for each member (member, spouse, member-work and spouse-work).

Our Website Email Messaging module includes a complete list management system for keeping track of and sending messages to two kinds of mailing lists, one for club-defined groups such as the board of directors, and one for member subscriptions, which enables members to choose to be included or excluded from certain club topics, e.g., golf, tennis and youth activities.

How important is email messaging? Well, according to the July 2003 issue of PC World magazine, it is pretty important: eighty percent of business executives interviewed in a recent survey declared that email is now more important than the telephone for business communications. Okay, club business is not business to the club's members but since many of the members are probably business executives, it is interesting to note that the vast majority of them prefer email.

If a club sends mass email messages to club members is it engaging in 'spamming'? Absolutely not! Spam is defined as email that comes from a non-existent email address, it often has a subject line that is deceptive or misleading and it is sent randomly and indiscriminately to thousands or millions. Club email, by contrast, has a valid return address, a proper subject and is sent only to members of the club.
